Doug Hanly, Chief Investment Officer for the Louisiana State Police Retirement System (LSPRS) joins us at Dakota Live! to take us through his experience as the first CIO of the LSPRS. The Louisiana State Police Retirement System is a qualified pension and retirement plan created to provide retirement benefits for Louisiana state police officers and their beneficiaries. Currently, the LSPRS serves over 1,000 active members and over 1200 retired/survivor members. With over $1 billion in assets, LSPRS’ primary goal is to safeguard and manage the funds it holds in trust so that future benefits are guaranteed and protected. Over the course of our conversation, Doug shares how virtues such as courage, strength of voice, and vulnerability have benefited him as it relates to career and investment decisions. Along the way, Doug shares the building blocks he looks for when looking for asset managers as part of his manager research process.
